For a long while I had been using ext2fsd for reading my ext file systems on my Windows machine. This was all working well until up(down)graded to Windows 8.
From then I could not get the drivers to install properly and read the partitions. I had worked around the problem for a while by keeping a Linux VM guest in Hyper-V. This was good but has issues with mounting a USB drive – I may have to write another blog post about how I achieved that.
Anyway, I decided that there had to be a more seamless way for me to achieve this, so I started scouring the Internet again and came across Paragon ExtFS for Windows. This has installed flawlessly on Windows 8 and I can now read and write to all of the ext partitions that I have available.
